Each participating operator will have a terminal supplied to each vehicle that is on duty at any time. This will be directly powered form the cigarette lighter / power outlet so as to be transportable between vehicles. Using a specifically adapted PC terminal, Concessionary Solutions creates individual users cards in selected denominations.
1. Each operator etc within a scheme is issued with a number of collection cards.
2. The users cards are distributed by Concessionary Solutions/Local Authority directly to the end user.
3. When making a journey, the user presents their card into the terminal. The terminal deducts the indicated fare and stores it in its internal memory.
4. Periodically (e.g. weekly) the operator inserts their collection card into the terminal and the stored fares are loaded onto the collection card, wiping the memory clean.
5. The operator returns the collection card to Concessionary Solutions by post. Concessionary Solutions load the card into the charging PC terminal to upload the data value to the system and in the process the card is then wiped clean.
6. Concessionary Solutions makes payment to the operator by BACs transfer or cheque and returns the collection card to the operator by post for reuse.
